The keeper prongs on jigheads are meant to help keep soft plastics on and in place. However, if you rig soft plastics by just pushing it up the jighead, you're already ruining them! Instead, before you push the plastic past the keepers, simply turn the lure 90 degrees, then push it up past the keepers. Once the lure is all the way up, turn it back to the straight position. This way, the keepers push through and tear the plastic in a different position than the final lure position on the jighead. This allows the lure to stay in place without sliding down from the channels the keepers created. A simple change (and no extra time) can extend the life of your jigheads... saving you time and money!
