Steal our 14-day Alaska road trip itinerary 👇 📍Day 1: Arrive in Anchorage, Alaska • Visit Chugach State Park • Have dinner at 49th State Brewing 📍Day 2 & 3: Denali National Park • Hike the Savage River Trail • Hike the Mount Healy Overlook Trail • Ride the green hop on, hop off bus to explore more of the park 📍Day 4 & 5: Palmer & Hatcher Pass • Hike to Reed Lakes • Stay at Hatcher Pass Lodge • Helicopter tour to Knik Glacier (we booked with Alaska Helicopter Tours) 📍Day 6 & 7: Kenai Fjords National Park + Seward • Boat tour in Kenai Fjords National Park (we booked with Major Marines) • Hike the Harding Icefield Trail • Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center 📍Day 8 & 9: Homer • Visit the spit - don’t miss Boardwalk fish&chips! • Take a boat to Kachemak Bay State Park • Visit the famous Salty Dawg Saloon 📍Day 10: Fly to a remote national park •Visit Lake Clark National Park or Katmai National Park (can visit both from Homer) 📍Day 11: Whittier • Hike to Byron Glacier or Portage Pass • Take the afternoon ferry to Valdez across the Prince William sound (alternatively you can drive to Valdez) 📍Day 12 & 13: Valdez • Free wildlife viewing at Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery • Hike at Thompson Pass • Eat at The Potato 📍Day 14: Drive to Anchorage and fly home ✈️Travel considerations: - If you can fly into Fairbanks, you can begin the road trip there so you don’t have to back track from Anchorage to Denali (flights are just often more expensive to Fairbanks) -You can make this a 10-day road trip by heading back to Anchorage after Homer -There are a few long driving days but all the drives are BEAUTIFUL and daylight lasts until midnight+ in the summer, making the days feel extra long.
