I finally got to break in my new 14-foot Live Watersports L4 paddle board with a 6HP motor… and it turned into one of the coolest paddle board fishing trips I’ve had. We launched around Hernando Beach with the SUP Customs crew to test the new setup, explore shallow creeks, and do a little fishing along the way. The board handled skinny water incredibly well, paddled better than expected, and gave us access to areas that would be sketchy for most boats. Along the way, we found redfish tucked tight to the shoreline, trout on deeper grass, and even cobia riding stingrays on a shallow sand flat. This was my first time catching cobia from a paddle board, and it made for a pretty unforgettable first trip on the new setup. If you fish shallow water from a kayak, paddle board, skiff, or small boat, this is a fun look at what a motorized SUP can do.
